# CS Patch Translator guide ![video guide cs patch translator](https://youtu.be/JwmxZSo25wM) Below is the help text from the app and this is also the steps used in the video above. # ColourSpace Set up: ## 1. Launch the apps * Open **ColourSpace** * Open **ColourSpace Patch Translator** * Place them so you can see them both together. > This helps you to compare network configuration settings. ### 2. Profiling Window * Open the **ColourSpace Profiling** window to begin taking measurements. ### 3. Probe Options * Select the **ColourSpace Probe Options** page. * Pick your measurement probe from the list. * Tap the **Connect** button. ### 4. Hardware Setup * Select the **ColourSpace Hardware** page. * In the Hardware pull down menu pick **'Network Server'**. * Change the port number from ` + "`20002`" + ` to a new value, e.g. ` + "`20202`" + `. * Tap on the **Connect** button. * Now the **Local Address** should appear to the right. * Below the Local Address you will see **Connected Clients**. ### 5. Connection Troubleshooting * **ColourSpace Patch Translator** is not listed: * In **ColourSpace Patch Translator** (top left): * Tap the **Stop/Change** button. * Enter the IP address from the ColourSpace **Local Address**. * Enter the port number used in ColourSpace. * Tap on **Start**. You should now see this app connect to ColourSpace. --- ## DaVinci Resolve Setup ### 1. DaVinci Resolve * Load DaVinci Resolve and create a **new project just for calibration testing. * Make sure the settings for Colour Space, Bit Depth and Range match your settings ### 2. Add Test Image * Go to the **Edit** tab and select **Effects** (magic wand). * In the toolbox (lower left) choose **Generators**. * Pick one of the provided test images. * Drag it to the timeline and ensure the play head is lined up. ### 3. Colour Page * Select the **Colour** page. ### 4. Monitor Calibration * Select the **Workspace Menu** > **Monitor Calibration**. * Choose **Portrait Displays**. ### 5. Connect * Enter the **IP address** and **Port** of the computer running **ColourSpace Patch Translator**. * Tap **Connect**. * You should see the **'Connected'** message. * The frame should change to the test patch. > **Note:** You can use ` + "`127.0.0.1`" + ` (localhost) if working on a single computer. --- ## The final configuration step ### Set the patch timing. In ColourSpace, select the Probe Options Page, then below the probe selection, tap the Auto button to test the connection delay. This ensures ColourSpace is reading the correct patches. ### Validate the pipeline You should **always** validate the selected patches are delivered to the output before making any adjustments. If you are not convinced the patches are getting to ColourSpace correctly, with CS Patch Translator and Resolve in view on screen, do a screen recording so you can see the colour values on screen by pausing the playback, watch the video above to see an example of this. You can of course do a recording with your phone if they are on different screens, as long as you can read the values. > **Note:** This is Beta Software; please report issues.
