# CS Patch Translator - Installation Instructions for macOS
Thank you for downloading CS Patch Translator. This guide will help you install, activate, and configure the application on your Mac.
## 1. Choose the Correct Version
Before installing, ensure you have downloaded the correct file for your Mac's processor.
- **Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, etc.):** Use the file ending in `_apple_silicon.zip`.
- **Intel (Older Macs):** Use the file ending in `_intel.zip`.
**How to check:** Click the **Apple Menu ()** in the top-left corner of your screen and select **About This Mac**. Look for "Chip" (Apple Silicon) or "Processor" (Intel).
## 2. Extract and Move
- Locate the downloaded zip file in your `Downloads` folder.
- Double-click the zip file to extract it. You will see the application icon named `cs_patch_translator.app`
- Drag and drop the application into your **Applications** folder, or any other folder of your choice (e.g., `Documents/ColourSpace-Tools`).
## 3. First Launch & Security Warnings
This app is not digitally signed by Apple, so the macOS Gatekeeper will prevent it from opening until you grant the execution permission.
**Do not double-click the app to open it the first time.** Instead, follow these steps:
1. **Right-click** (or Control-click) on the **`cs_remote.app`** icon.
2. Select **Open** from the context menu.
3. A dialog box will appear warning that the developer cannot be verified. Click the **Open** button in this dialog.
- If you don't see an "Open" button, click "Cancel"
- Then go to **System Settings > Privacy & Security**,
- Scroll down to the Security section, and click **Open Anyway** next to the notification about cs_remote.
4. You only need to do this once. Future launches can be done by simply double-clicking the app.
### App is damaged - Error
> **"App is damaged" Error:** If macOS says the app is "damaged and can't be opened," this is a common issue with unsigned apps downloaded from the internet. To fix it, open the **Terminal** app and type the following command (replace `/path/to/` with the actual location): `xattr -cr /Applications/cs_remote.app`
## 4. License Activation
You can access your licence key on the customer portal here: [https://polar.sh/aulwa/portal](https://polar.sh/aulwa/portal/request)
- On the first launch, you will see a **License Entry** screen.
- Ensure your Mac is connected to the internet.
- Paste your License Key into the field and click **Activate License**.
- Once validated, the main application window will open.
## 5. The `cs_patch_translator_config.json`Configuration File
- After activation, a file named `cs_patch_translator_config.json` will be created in the **same folder** where you placed the application.
- **Purpose:** This file stores your license activation and application settings.
- **Important:** If you move the application to a new folder, you must move this `cs_patch_translator_config.json` file along with it, or you will be asked to activate your license again.
- **Do Not Edit:** Please do not open or modify this file manually. It is digitally signed, and any changes will break the signature.
